Merry Christmas!!

Hey hey everyone.Thought i'd write my blog now-then i don't have to write it again 'til Boxing Day (there wil be no Christmas Day blog). We watched Muppet Christmas Carol this evening as has been tradition for the past number of years. Also went to the little kiddies service at church-its so much fun being childish!!!

The excitement is beginning to build up now. It seems like this Christmas has been a long time coming and i guess i've had quite a significant last 10 weeks let alone year. I guess this last year has beeen amazing for me personally and so much crazy stuff has happened and it's like this is going to cap it all off. I never want to grow out of Christmas-ever.

Well that'l be all for now. Sorry these last few posts have been somewhat dull, but i guess not much has happened over the last few days! Happy Christmas and God Bless!

Thought for the Day: He who has not Christmas in his heart will not find it under a tree.

The boys of the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay...

Just got back from a night out with old friends. I don't know how one can have old friends at the age of 18 but still...friends from school i haven't seen in a long time. It was great to see how people are doing at Uni etc and to catch up on crazy uni happenings. Although i did keep wanting to make jokes that no-one would have understood

In 10 mins time it will be Christmas Eve-the single most exciting day of the year for me. Although technically Christmas Day should be-the tension the day before is almost as good as the day itself. The family rituals etc etc. By the way, the competition for best joke is really hotting up with some christmas crackers being unleashed!

Anyways seeing as im in the 'happy' state il keep it brief tonight. I need sleep.....

Thought for the Day: Over 1 billion children and young people will spend this Christmas in poverty-more turkey??

1 Week old Today!!

Congratulations! This blog is now one week old. That means firstly that i have had enough resolve to post an entry for seven consecutive days, and secondly that you have presumably read a brief but enlightening?! account of the last week of my life/ (that is the previous week-not the ultimate week!!) dont get scared!

To celebrate i thought i should do something entertaining, so firstly i've created an entry for Christmas jokes. Please enter your jokes in the comments section, and the best joke entered by Christmas Day will win a special keyring and maybe some other goodies....oooooohh i hear you cry

Anyway about today. Finally finished all my shopping. Yippee! That means i can have a carefree Christmas eve eve. And whats more is that i am actually quite happy with all the presents i have bought! There are the usual few suspect ones-but as long as i smile at the handing over-im sure they'll forgive me! Watched LOTR:The Two Towers this evening-Quite brilliant. However many times i watch it, i never get bored. A true masterpiece. Well id best be off to bed now. My body is beginning to return to 'Home time' rather than 'Uni time', and im starting to get a bit tired.

'Cher Ami' A true hero

Well extraordinary days never ever seem dull and yes that is a bit obvious-but look at the first letter of the first 9 words! Wow im clever. Went to the library today which was pretty useless seeing as they have no books of any use to anyone between the ages of 11 and 65. Still what can you expect from a library in Harrogate. Had a toasted sandwich for lunch. Mmmmm lunch is rarely something special for me, falling as it does just after breakfast, however when i get up earlier i make sure lunch is worth it! Not that im obssessed with food at all!

Watched some programs about fermats last theorem in the afternoon. Its strange how most mathematicians either attempted or succeeded in commtiming suicide. Strange thing really-quite tragic when it was all over numbers. I guess its all about obsession.

If you have a spare moment this week do check out http://ehrweb.aaas.org/ehr/parents/Pigeons!.html. Its a truly wonderful website. Especially make sure you read the bit at the bottom about Cher Ami-its worth the scroll. I assure you, you will never look at a pigeon in the same way. The mating routine is quite strange too.

Thought for the day: Live life as though you are a penguin-I find it helps...

The one and only Wish...

Tuesday, December 20, 2005

Well what a day...and to think it was a Tuesday...quite marvellous. Just over 4 days 'til Christmas. Went shopping again today-bought NOTHING. Oh well there's always tommorrow, or the day after tommorrow-well what do you know-i happened to have stumbled across the name of a poor geo-disaster movie released this year (not one for the christmas list). The amusing thing about geographers is that they spend most of the time coming up with new and innovative ways in which the world could end, ranging from earthquakes to volcanoes or super depressions, even asteroids and sea level change. What does it tell you about a subject if all the people who do it are wanting the world to end? If you dont believe me, pick up any geographic magazine and take a dip. Still the subject brings forth legends such as Wish i suppose. Maybe il post a picture of him just so you can all share in the happiness.

Went out for a meal tonight. Italians always fun-especially the food names. Always good food too. Ate lots and lots and now im full to the brim of my brimless hatless head. Ooh and by the way the pigeon appeal is going well. Keep sending the money and emails...
Oh yeah and why not check out http://www.katyarborough.blogspot.com/ for slightly more sane analysis of the day. Only slightly though...

This is what we are campaigning for..

Does this scarf really look big enough to you?

Like a craft knife to the finger

That Mr Anderson is the sound of inevitability....and so life rolls on. The main inevitability in my life is my general incompetence at getting anything done-at all (see thought for the day).
Today i went Christmas shopping and bought lots of lovely pressies to give away-coz im kind like that. In the end of course i didn't get half of what i had to. Oh yeah and picked up some classic 90s dance/pop for 80p in oxfam! (Emma, pop is a style of music-NOT a drink!)

Finally saw a pigeon today which, though not being the ultimate highlight of the day, did put a smile on my face. Though it was looking a little cold. Hence the joint Rae/Marjoribanks 'pigeons need longer scarves' Campaign. If you would like more info on this please bombard vicky_rae@hotmail.com with loads of emails-she will love you. Honest! Or alternatively send lots of money to moi! Maybe il attach a video to give u a better understanding.

Right back to the point. Though this blog as you will notice has about as much point as a blunt pencil which has been smoothed off especially for this comparison (probably using a fine craft knife and possibly a sander-maybe even at the cost of several valuable fingers which alas will point no more!). Still more fool you for reading it. Did nothing else today so i will leave you!

Though for the Day: Theory...what a beautiful yet unattainable thing

9 Lessons + Carols

Yes today was the 9 lessons and carols service. For a few years now i have realised that the title means 9(lessons) + carols rather than 9(lessons + carols). If you'll excuse what might come across as mathematical snobbery, the two are very different, and confusion between them can lead to much disappointment. So eventually i've become used to the fact that it actually means 9 readings, 9 choir anthems, and 5 carols. Still twas good. I've also had to come to terms with the fact that there is no lady called Carol, and she does not do a lot of singing at this time of year. (i know that there are in fact people called Carol, but not not within the above context).

So, less than a week 'til Christmas and im kinda excited. Seems like it's been a long year-but a good one. And the fact that Kat isn't in Peru this year always makes it more exciting! My decorations in my room are already getting annoying. Having almost been decapitated by them twice, i decided to tie them a little higher, however they have still fallen down since! I guess thats just life! My 7 inch Christmas tree is still standing up ok (no euphemism for those with the stranger mind!!)

Anyway think thats enough for one day. Tara!

Thought For the Day: Life is like betting. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you just have fun. But theres always risk involved.
