I do not have much to say today. I have grumbled about the hour loss, and besides going out for a meal, and then listening to the football there is nothing to report about today. So instead i shall briefly discuss a radio programme i heard last night about Norman Kember. I am afraid that i am slowly losing all faith in humanity. There were loads of people ringing in (some anti-religous) saying how stupid he was to be out there
The reality is that the war was illegal and immoral and that for my part i wish i had the guts to act on my beliefs more. All those who were against the war, and then suddenly when an OAP peacemaker is out in Iraq, he is being called reckless and stupid. Shouldn't we be encouraging people like him and helpign iraqis see that we are not behind what the government is doing and that we disagree with it? Hes on a peacemission, hes not a missionary converting people.
I guess that the sad fact is that we work on a majority system of government. For once i am inclined to agree with Oli, that a country where the right people were in charge would be far better than a country run by the majority-who are usually wrong.
Thought for the Day: Majority rule sucks!! lol
Sorry rant over!

Sorry Tim, seems I'm bad at taking orders... I read your rant. Yes, humanity is crap sometimes... really crap... but I firmly believe that there has got to be, and is, good in everyone... Just smile at a stranger on the street... make eye contact, and smile.. it is amazing the results you receive... 99% of the time you will get a smile back... it's a wonderful feeling. Anyway... erm, that's it really! x
And you say I talk in cliches Vicky! That's the most cliche-ridden rubbish I've read since I last made a comment!
The biggest argument against majority rule should be the fact that the biggest selling daily is the Sun. Fact.
fact indeed regarding the sun. I know there is good, its just hard when people are so ignorant. yes i know that sounds arrogant of me...but hey
Has anybody ever told you that telling people NOT to do something encourages them to do it even more...I read your post and like andy and vicky could think of some other random cliches/facts to support your arguement...
However, being unconventional I will say this...yes we can all be bastards sometimes but there is good in everyone (quote vicky)...but we are never going to be able to change the way the world works as unfortunatly the powerful minority tend to have teh overriding say...therefore please dont lose too much sleep over it!
but...I'd be happy to do a bit of protesting (as long as i agreed with the cause) if u ever felt the need to act upon ur beliefs.
'never going to be able to change the world works'?? Whatever would Ghandi, or mother Theresa or Martin Luther King, or the sufferegettes have said to you?
Lol...but tbf tim...did they really change anything? There are so many people who still continue to live in the past..and have teh same opinions of people whatever is said or put across to them...This world is Shit and there is very little we can dso about it...
lol-i think if i am ever truly convinced that i can have no effect, then there would be no point in living. So thank goodness i have yet to be convinced...
On the powerful minority point, why can't we be that powerful minority, as we have already admitted we are in a minority here?
It all depends on your definition of 'changing the world'. Maybe we will never have any huge affect on world politics/situations or anything like that... BUT I can guarantee you that we will all have an affect on at least one person's world... your children, your friends, your lovers, your parents... you will change their worlds in one way or another, and that is no small thing. It is a privilege, and something we have to consider when going about our daily business. Wow.. I've said too much now. Just bear that in mind. xx
Well said Vicky...Well said!!
