It's been a while...

But i felt like randomly blogging.

A lot has changed since my last blog! I am sat in our front room, of the house that we actually own! Watching T.V. and enjoying what can almost be considered a real working man's weekend. True, I am not yet actually working in a job, but I do work 8-5 most days so I think that counts. In fact I think the aspect that's least like a job is the salary! But I guess I'm not doing it for the money!

So anyway here I am on a Sunday, listening to Forever Young and feeling surprisingly old. I think i must be old-i just watched Songs of Praise. You know it's not good when you watch songs of praise and their hymn list is better than the one you had this morning...

I tried wallpapering this weekend. Having put the lining paper up fairly successfully its fair to say I got cocky. One piece went up, 2 pieces went up, 3 pieces went up. I stepped back to admire my work, left it for 10 minutes to see if it would improve with age. Came back and tried looking at it with the light off and through squinted eyes. One piece got taken down, two pieces got taken down, three pieces got taken down. I went and watched T.V. I reckon its a 2 person job.

Or should I say 'Watch on!'. For the first time in 5 years! This is only the second proper one I've worn ever! I got my first for my 8th birthday, and having had straps replaced and pins replaced etc etc it finally died around 5 years ago. Since then I've been meaning to get a new one! And, well now I have one! My wrist is feeling somewhat heavier, but I'm sure i'll get used to it in time! Get it...

You can tell it's that time of year again!

Yes, with exams, proving to be the monster which will in good time be coming over the hill, I have unsurprisingly resorted to my natural defence mechanism of getting hooked on crap songs! Only yesterday I was innocently searching for a video of a dougnut turning into a coffee mug (which surprisingly is an extremely mathematical phenomenon!) when up pops 'Black coffee' in the Youtube results. In a serious moment of misjudgment I thought I would reunite myself with this poppy rubbish, as it was more fun than trying to explain topology to a 14yr old. Alas therein was my big mistake.

I have not stopped singing it for 24hrs. And now here it is for you to enjoy!

4-5-1

Warning, this may turn out to be a rant!

I have been browsing the football forums following the 1-1 draw with Lyon tonight, and am somewhat amazed to hear Man Utd fans complaining about the use of 4-5-1, a formation which apparently has never worked for us.

Were they watching Saturday?!? We beat Arsenal 4-0, mainly because of the 4-5-1 system. Having a lone striker meant that the Arsenal central defenders, both well renowned, failed to pick him up, enabling Rooney to be freed up to play open football and make runs etc. I might even concede that they could have picked a better formation tonight the idea that 4-51 has never worked is absurd! It is also worth noting that Van Nistelrooy often played an effective 4-5-1 and it didn't stop him either!

So what was the problem tonight? I'm not sure, I didn't even see the game! And it doesn't matter. The point is that 4-5-1 is a very useful formation and fits very well with the current Man Utd squad, with so many attacking midfielders. Just because one game we didn't win whilst playing that formation does not mean that Sir Alex is stupid and has no idea anymore and should be sacked. Besides 1-1 isn't that bad a result!

Gah i hate football fans!

I haven't blogged for ages. Partly because for a large amount of the last 4 weeks I haven't had much internet access, and also because I was away doing better things.

So here we go, another year begins. It's already 8 years since the millennium (or 7 if you actually celebrated it the right year) That makes me feel old, very old indeed. Anyway, I have resolved once again to have no resolutions this year, and therefore I am confident that I will keep to all my resolutions.

I have decided to blog about nothing. I am actually devoid of anything to say still!!! After a month! I suppose i should at least leave you with a song. Seeing as most of the 1 1/2 people who read this are girls, here's a Man-hater song recommended by a good friend of mine. Apparently when us guys turn out to not actually be plucked straight out of a fairytale, this is what you're supposed to cry along to, tears collecting in your tub of ben and jerrys that you know shouldn't eat, but you just can't help it...sniff sniff
